It is unlikely to find a person who does not know what  are.  These may come in different forms or may be called by different names, yet the purpose remains to be the same. It is an item that is meant to contain bite sized, palate-tingling goodies. These dishes often come made from glass. There are others that are made from ceramics, plastics and metal such as aluminum or silver. These come in many shapes and sizes. Some of it are elegantly formed and would give a sense of class and sophistication while others come in novelty shapes that promote untailored fun. Some of these have covers while others would be presented the same way as a platter.

There are people who collect while others have varieties of these in novelty forms to use during special occasions. During the New Year’s and the 4th of July celebrations, hosts would often have these either in a formal or conventional shape while others would go for something that may be shaped like a giant whiskey glass. On Valentine’s, these would be most popularly seen shaped like a heart or that of cupid. It would often contain sweets that are heart-shaped or small pieces of chocolates. Another occasion is Easter. These would be popularly seen shaped like a bunny. Some of these would come in a bunny figurine that is holding a platter or basket where the candies are placed. Halloween is a different story. This occasion is meant to have loads of candy for trick or treating children to ask for. This is why this has the most varieties of novelty containers. Some of these would be shaped like a witch’s cauldron, a black cat, bats, spiders, jack o’ lanterns and other creepy-looking shapes and forms.

Thanksgiving is a time when family and friends get together to count their blessings. You will be able to find candy bowls that are shaped like turkeys, pies or other crops that would often signify the occasion. On the other hand, Christmas is the only time of the year where you will find specialty candies that are meant for the occasion. The most common shapes that you will find would be those of trees, candy canes, Santa Claus, gift boxes and socks. Here you will get to see candy canes, sweet and tangy mints, small chocolates and other specialty candies for the event.

For the rest of the year, it is still common to find these among households. Some are meant for personal use that are often found by the bedside while others are used like cookie jars where everyone is welcome to have a piece.
